First grade is an exciting year in your child's education. There are so many things to learn! We will continue to grow in our faith learning about God's Word, our Church, the sacraments, the saints and so much more. Our reading and writing skills will grow by leaps and bounds as we work towards becoming independent readers and writers. Our math skills too will soar as we learn everything from skip counting to telling time and counting money. I am so excited to be working along with you to help your child reach his or her greatest potential!

Religion
First Grade will spend the next several weeks learning about God's Creation and celebrating Catholic School's Week.

Math
Each day begins with a Math Meeting where we review the date, days of the week (in English and Spanish!) and the months of the year. We also record the weather and review both counting and place value. We also have continued to learn various addition facts as well as sharpen our time telling skills.

Language Arts
First grade has been busy learning about story structure. We are now getting ready to publish our first books. These books are personal narratives that tell great stories in our own lives.
